A Call to Power: The Grandmother's Speak
by Sharon McErlane
“When the wisdom of the Grandmother's is heard, the world will heal.” Native American Prophecy

Back page info:
“Desperate times call for something new. As humans stand at the edge of the precipice, the winds of change blasting our backs, the universe throws us a lifeline. Help has appeared before us in the form of wise old women, the Great Council of the Grandmother's. “The present imbalance of energy on Earth has placed all life in danger,” the Grandmother's declare. “It is time to return to balance, and for this, women must lead. Women must be empowered. This is why we have come.”

The Grandmother's have come at this crucial time to awaken the presence of the deep feminine, to bring men and women and all life back into harmony.

A Call to Power is the story of the author's encounters with these wise women and the powerful and important message that they bring.

When trying to gather new Sisters to our own Circles on a Pagan Internet Yahoo group, I was directed towards the website for the Grandmother's Speak by someone who thought it may be of interest to me. Wow! Indeed it was. I couldn't believe the similarity of the messages this lady had received to those I had received myself which started me on my life's path of setting up the Goddess Circles. Whilst she comes about things from a slightly different angle, the result is the same – empowering women and bringing back the balance, all for a better world – wonderful!

Well worth a read, take a look at the website too. The book is available to buy from there.

Favourite quote from the book:
The Grandmothers say, "We have come to empower women so that each one so empowered can begin to bring the great imbalance on earth into balance. The feminine principle of energy must be re-established to its rightful place. Each woman who receives the Grandmothers empowerment is helping infuse the much-needed energy of yin into the earth by embodying this consciousness herself.

Jaguar Woman and the Wisdom of the Butterfly Tree
by Lynn V Andrews

Back page info:
“Her extraordinary journey into the unknown leads to dazzling new worlds of the mind and spirit. She speaks of reclaiming her personal power as a woman and at the same time opens up ways for everyone to tap the hidden powers of their own nature. Through a wealth of practical shamanistic lore interwoven with tales of sorcery, Andrews reveals both the challenge and the rewards of the sacred quest.”

I was introduced to the Medicine Woman series of books, of which there are many, by one of the founders of Circle of The Old Ways and an original member of the Goddess Circles. Sam mentioned the books at a discussion group about 'who or what inspires you'. It had intrigued Sam that much of the content of the Goddess Circles was confirmed in these books.

The series is very much based on Lynn being taught to find her inner wisdom, her inner strength and understand the connection and power of the feminine. The series takes Lynn around the world, meeting various 'teachers' on a shamanic path led by an old Native American medicine woman called Agnes Whistling Elk who takes her on as her apprentice. Apparently, all true, makes for wonderful reading and inspirational words.

Favourite quotes from the book:
“I was born a woman, and because of this I was shunted aside, consigned to the hollows and fringes of life, where so very many of my sisters continue to reside. Was it simply historical accident! I tried to see through the mirage of social barriers that cloud the eyes of women the world over. We don't even recognize each other. It is as if for centuries we have moved like chromosomal mutations isolated from the gene pools of the originally sacred, our primal female nature stolen from us, from the world pool, just as though it never existed.”

“Out of darkness, intolerance, prejudice, and imbalance, you are working to reveal the power and sacredness in all women. You, and many others of our sex, are beginning to remember who they are. You do not yet remember completely who you are, but soon you will know.”

The Holy Book of Women's Mysteries
by Z Budapest

The Holy Book of Women's Mysteries is essential for pagans, feminists, and women seeking to learn more about the spiritual path as it relates to the feminine and the Goddess aspects of witchcraft and Wicca. This book is not about reinstating a matriarchy or tearing down patriarchy; it is about women's spirituality and its relationship with politics and lifestyle.
